Your business runs on tech whether you chose it or not.
I fix the stuff that should be working but isn't.
I'm the person everyone comes to when the tech isn't working. Except I go further than fixing it. Wrong tools, missing processes, a website that's behind — I sort the whole thing out, properly this time.
Free. Ten questions. You get a personalised read on where your setup is holding you back.
You're good at what you do. The tech side hasn't kept up.
You've got a business that runs on your expertise and your reputation. But the tools are a mess, the website is behind, and somewhere along the way you ended up with six subscriptions doing the job of two. Nobody internally quite knows how it all connects, so it keeps getting put off.
The right tools, set up properly, and things start to feel a lot less fragile. That's what I sort out.
A practice of one, on purpose.
I'm Ismail. Most people have someone in their life who always seems to have figured out the clever way to do something with tech. The person you call before you spend money on a solution, because they've probably already found a better one. That's the role I play, except for businesses, and properly.
Clients often spot my setup before they understand what it's doing. They'll see something on my screen or my phone and ask how it works, can they have it, can I set them up. That curiosity is usually where good work starts. I introduce people to tools they didn't know existed and workflows that make their previous way of doing things look unnecessarily hard.
Before this, a decade in demanding commercial environments: Harrods, Peter Reed across Hong Kong, Seoul, Moscow and Milan, then senior project management at SGK for a global FMCG client. The pattern repeated in every one of those roles. I'd find the thing nobody had actually been asked to fix, and I'd fix it anyway, without waiting for someone to commission it or hand it down to me.
I work out of Newcastle. Most of what I do is remote, so location doesn't really matter, but I'm building relationships in the North East first, before anywhere else. There's no junior account handler and no phone line that isn't mine. If you call, or you're waiting on an email at half nine on a Wednesday night, that's me, not someone junior covering for me.
The name comes from two places. In graphic design, the margin is the space that makes everything else readable, the part that does its job by staying out of the way. And there's the older habit of writing in the margins of a book or a notebook, where the notes that actually matter tend to end up. Neither is the main event, but both are usually what makes it make sense.
Newcastle Central Mosque
A new building deserved a presence to match it.
NCM was moving into a flagship purpose-built premises. The tech side hadn't kept up. Over twelve months I rebuilt the brand, launched the website, and established the mosque across every major platform from scratch.

Twelve months, ground up.
"He refreshed our entire brand, got our new website live, and single-handedly established our presence across every major platform. The community noticed immediately. Members regularly commented on how professional and vibrant the mosque appeared online, and on the quality of the branding and design at our events."

A short engagement, run like a pit stop. Quick, deliberate, clean.
Listen
First meeting is a conversation. You talk, I take notes, we figure out whether we should work together. Free. Honest if we shouldn't.
Map
I sit with the systems you actually use, watch them in motion, talk to the people pressing the buttons. Then I write you a short, plain document.
Build
Fixed-price, agreed before we start. I work in short blocks, send a Friday update that's two paragraphs and a list. You always know what's happening.
Hand back
Everything is in your accounts, your name, your domain. I write a one-page runbook so the next person can pick it up. Then I step back.
